Zsa Zsa Home! Sold Sold!
Pigs just flew and the sky just fell, but sell it did! Frankly, we can’t understand why such a beautiful home took two years to make its exit from the market. Of course it started out with some odd elements in the original listing such as the condition that Zsa Zsa’s husband be allowed to live there with the new owners. Then there was all the controversy between Zsa Zsa’s daughter, Francesca Hilton, and ninth husband Frédéric Prinz von Anhalt over access to her mother. But it’s an elegant, old Hollywood style home with great views and a fascinating history that is ready for a new owner to give it the adoration it deserves.
Built in 1955 and designed by Howard Hughes, it was further star struck when Elvis Presley owned it and glamorized by the ownership of socialite, film and TV star, the exquisite Zsa Zsa Gabor. Queen Elizabeth and U.S. presidents have dined and been entertained here among many other dignitaries and celebrities. Today it’s a film star in its own right, having appeared in the Oscar winning film, Argo. Coming up is another star role for the house in an HBO film about Liberace, Behind the Candelabra. The Liberace film will amass a potential income of $70,000 for the owner of record at the time of filming.
Zsa Zsa purchased the house in 1974 while she was between husbands four and five. It has been her residence for almost 40 years. After a bout of serious illness starting in 2004, now at age 96, she and current husband, von Anhalt, felt it was time to sell the 26 room, 8,878 square foot house as the couple has only used two rooms of the manse for some time.
Nestled within its 1.6 acres in Bel Air, the home has stunning views over Los Angeles to the Pacific with large outdoor terraces, pool and plenty of guest parking. The interior has huge rooms opening to terraces and consists of 6 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms, a circular grand foyer, large bar, king sized guest suite and multiple elegant and casual venues for entertaining.
Starlet's home & husband, Prince Frederic, finally sell after two years and lots of drama. Asking price was originally $28 million, later reduced to $14.9 million. Sale price not yet disclosed.
