Just when we thought we’d seen every marketing ploy possible, this one pops out! If you buy this vintage Rolls Royce for $1,295,900, the owner will throw in their home as an extra perk. We’ve seen vacation giveaways, a free year of beer, small cars that come with the purchase of the house and even free pizzas. All these were clever and drew attention to themselves, but are buyers starting to get supersaturated with the come-ons? You’ve got to hand it to the agents with imaginations that make us take a second look, no matter how outrageous. Now we have a Rolls that may be a little overpriced, but the house that goes with it is really quite nice. It’s big and in a cool location with a lot of water around and a short drive to the Massachusetts shore lined with pretty beaches. The Merrimack River at the end of the block has marinas dotting the banks all the way to the mouth where it opens into the Atlantic for deep sea fishing It looks like West Newbury is a fun place to live where homes have extra land but are very close to shopping and outdoor activities.
The Rolls is a Silver Cloud I, built between 1955 and 1959. It was considered to be the finest car in the world at that time. It even has a fold down bar in the back that would also make a nice laptop desk, providing your chauffeur is driving! This model on the Internet is selling between $35,000 to $50,000 today depending on the quality of the restoration, so it looks like the house may cost a few dollars after all.
On 4.8 acres of hilltop, the 5,463 square foot house has views to the river. Of course the driveway is heated so as not to get snow on the Rolls’ white side walls. There are 6 bedrooms, 4 baths and a guest or au pair wing with sitting room. The kitchen has a fireplace to sit by while you shell beans or peel potatoes like our grannies did before us.
Vintage Rolls Royce and large cozy house. Rolls priced at $1,295,000 - house free!
