Who said sellers always take a hit in this economy? Here’s one seller who’s laughing all the way to the bank! David Hyde Pierce just sold his dreamy Los Angeles mansion for almost twice what he paid for it in 2003! Considering the cost of staff, maintenance and taxes over the last nine years, he may have come out about even, but is there anyone who wouldn’t want that standard of living almost free for nearly a decade?
Of course we know David from his award winning performances on Frasier but this Yale graduate is a man of exceptional talent as a Broadway actor with an amazing singing voice, a comedian par excellence who also applies hilarious comedic timing even in the midst of singing an operetta. Though he opted out of becoming a professional concert pianist due to boredom, we’re glad he did or we wouldn’t have howled over Frasier for eleven years and even now in reruns.
Even persnickety Niles Crane would have approved of this home, so it’s not surprising that it grabbed a new buyer right away. Built in 1929 in Los Feliz, David and partner, Brian, purchased it in 2003 for $3.625 million and in 2004 undertook major renovations. The mansion has 7 bedrooms, 8.5 baths, fireplaces, huge formal dining room, theatre with fireplace, a library, gym, wine vault, guest house and one of the most beautiful verandas ever with its own fireplace. The pool deck is fabulous and has exquisite views.
