Home Deal 10Sorry I missed you last week Readers. In the mean time, lets give a big round of applause for Jason who guest hosted last week’s Top Ten. We can’t just give you a re-run episode and hope your nostalgia will keep you coming back. This is, in its way, like the news; and we like to keep ourselves informed and passionate and on top of things, like Jane Fonda was in the 70’s. Then we can exercise our rights to aggravate half of the country with half witted protests followed by half dressed exercise in fitness videos, marry and divorce a media tycoon and attempt a come back by making completely bad movies like “Monster in Law”. This week’s Deal #10 is the Atlanta Loft, currently owned by Ms. Jane Fonda. Like her credibility as an activist, the price is slashed nearly in half and reduced from 4.5M down to 2.5M.

Home Deal 9There are lots of places I can think of where I wish the walls could talk. Brad Pitt and Angelina’s bedroom is one. Come on, you are curious too. Of course, with that many kids, it’s probably just a whole lot of snoring. Wanting to hear what’s going on inside the BP Oil “think tank” is quite a bit less perverted and maybe even a little sadistic . It is quite possible that Deal # 9 actually had talking walls. It is the former California residence of one excellent listener from the 70’s, President Richard Milhous Nixon. His San Clemente estate is still on the market and the 15 million price tag has resigned. Now swearing in, for probably a short time, is a 9 million dollar price tag.

Home Deal 8At the corner of Laurel Canyon and Sunset Blvd in Los Angeles is a famed bar and eatery called Barney’s Beanery. The food is atrocious, the service is slow and the coffee is the worst I have ever tasted and is never, ever hot. Still I returned there time and time again with visitors and new comers to LA because it was a notable piece of musical history. This was one of Jim Morrison’s favorite hang outs. Probably because it was within stumbling distance from his home and Deal #8. What is known as “The House on Love Street” is up for sale fully furnished. If you love showing off musical history, it might be better to buy the house than to drink the coffee at Barney’s.

Home Deal 7Did my “Farah Faucet Flip” just come back in style? People are in the media this week that I had no idea were still alive. Zsa Zsa Gabor had hip replacement surgery. She and her sister Ava were like the Paris and Niki Hilton of the 70’s only with underwear and true aristocratic class. Speaking of the 70’s, the temperature in Whitefish Montana is just reaching the 70’s this morning. When I clicked on the images of Deal #7, a lakefront mansion at absolute auction in Montana, I wanted to rub my face on my computer screen. It’s 105 degrees where I am and my hairdo is melting.

Home Deal 6Just as in the first great depression, many people are doing things for money they never thought they would do. “Real Housewife” Theresa Giudice is auctioning off the gaudy belongings in her New Jersey mansion and this week, I was charged with the not so pleasant task of finding a tenant for my spare room. Doesn’t that sound a lot more grown up than saying I was looking for a roommate? Wow. Even if you are not in the market, I suggest you have a look at Craig’s List under “Housing Wanted”. There are hundreds of people out there who either have no idea how to lie and market themselves or still believe in Santa Clause and the kindness of strangers. Deal # 6 is a rental property in Manhattan listed at 140K a month. It’s what is known as the Cole Porter apartment in the Waldorf Astoria. This will be for someone who refuses to participate in the economic downturn.
